5-10 September 2021

Welcome to the European Colloid & Interface Society (ECIS) conference 2021!

It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the 35th Conference of the European Colloid and Interface Society (ECIS), from 5 to 10 September, 2021. The annual ECIS Conference brings together participants from the broad, interdisciplinary field of colloid and interface science, including chemists, physicists, biologists, pharmacists and engineers.

ECIS offers education to young researchers and nurtures networking at an international level. During the conference, plenary lectures will be given by eminent speakers and the laureates of the Overbeek and Solvay Prizes. Participation and advancement of young researchers and PhD students will be encouraged through the Enzo Ferroni Prize and several best poster prizes.

The conference was initially scheduled to be held in 2020 but the CVID-19 pandemic forced us to postpone it for September 2021. Taking into consideration the major difficulties that humanity suffered by the pandemic, limiting travels and meetings, we offer the possibility to participate to the conference either physically or digitally. Attendees that will choose a digital participation will have online and interactive access to all sessions presenting their work either as an oral or a poster.

We are also happy to announce the ECIS pre-conference training course “Colloids for food and pharmaceutical applications”, featuring lectures from experts from both Academia and Industry, on the 3rd and 4th of September 2021. The course will take place on the Island of Aegina near Athens.

VENUE: The conference will be held at Zappeion Mansion in Athens, Greece*. With a history of 3,000 years, Athens, the capital and largest city of Greece, is one of the world’s oldest cities. The Zappeion Mansion is a building in the National Gardens of Athens, the first building to be erected specifically for the revival of the Olympic Games in the modern world.

* Due to the pandemic situation, we will inform you for any changes or legal restrictions may happen in the future
